Squish and smush your way to the benefits of messy play (set to classical music) with us!  A multitude of sensory experiences will be available.  Come dressed for mess!  A parent or caregiver must stay with the child for the program.  For ages 0 – 3 only.  Registration is required.

Families will sing and sway at the library with this interactive program (yes- that means children and grown-ups!).  We'll have songs that will get you up and moving and use rhythm instruments too.  For families with children ages 2-6. No registration required.

Join us at the Fishers Library as we explore music from around the world by creating unique and beautiful artwork. This week's focus will be the music of Australia! All supplies will be provided. What's That Sound? Music by Paul Odenwelder. This program presents what makes a tone, a pitch, harmony and rhythm with both standard musical instruments and instruments with unusual origins and sounds.  The fun really gets going with his collection of odd musical instruments from around the world. Let Professor Steve amaze and entertain you with his collection of incredible and unusual instruments, played by both himself and sometimes members of the audience.  We will learn how our ears and sound waves work, then fill our heads with beautiful sounds coming from PVC pipes, water glasses, steel rods, plastic tubing, saws and other amazing "instruments".  In addition, Professor Steve will teach all about the amazingness of the library--the place to go for fun, activities and information on how to do awesome things.  Why?  Because Libraries Rock! Get an early start on Xmas crafting this summer. Using discarded TP rolls, we will make sparkling snowflake ornaments that you'll be proud to hang on your tree or give as gifts. Once we finish cutting, folding, gluing and glittering, you'll never be able to tell that these delightful ornaments once held toilet paper! This class is intended for those 18 and above and registration is required.

In this class for beginners, you will learn how to form Uncial calligraphy letters. Uncial calligraphy is an ancient form of calligraphy characterized by simple, rounded strokes. It apparently originated in the 2nd century AD with the growing use of parchment and vellum as writing surfaces. Most of the works of Latin literature for more than 500 years were copied in this hand.  Paper, pen, guide sheet, and exemplar are provided, free of charge. All instructional materials are yours to keep. You must be 18 or over to register. Registration is required.

Come listen to Patchwork present traditional songs and stories from Appalachia, highlighting different types of music (waltzes, hoedowns, Appalachian murder ballads, coal mining songs). They'll feature vocals as well as traditional Appalachian instruments (fiddle, guitar, Appalachian dulcimer). All ages are welcome. No registration required.
