Dementia Friends Indiana Community Training

DFI info sessions are a brief, but very impactful way of learning about dementia, understanding and appreciating the perspective of someone living with dementia, and having the knowledge you need to better communicate and interact with those living with the disease and their family caregivers. Attendees of DFI info sessions will also learn actions they can take to advance the DFI movement and mission of creating better understanding and awareness of dementia, reducing the associated stigma, and creating more welcoming, safe, and conducive community environments for those living with the disease. Upon completion of the DFI info session attendees will be registered as a Dementia Friend in Indiana. Ages 18+. Registration required.

However, women have been a crucial part of the economic, political, and social activity of the county since its beginning. They were influential in abolitionism, temperance, and education for all. This talk will look at the contributions that they made and the impact that they had. Presented by David Heighway, Hamilton County Historian.

The Tween Drama Club is designed for kids in grades 2-6. It will meet every 2nd and 3rd Thursday of each month, February through May 9. Learn how to set up and shoot a short video program using professional camcorders and lenses, lighting and audio and editing software. In four hours, you will be part of a studio crew, and on-camera talent, and learn by seeing and doing the basics of: prepping a camera, including attaching a lens, setting exposure, formatting an SD card, setting up three-point lighting on on-camera talent, control what is seen in the background, the use of a shotgun and wireless microphone, the rudiments of sound composition, videography and directing, importing footage into Adobe Premiere Elements, and conduct a rough two-camera edit Must be 13+ years of age. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your spot may be given to someone else. If after signing up you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration so others may take your spot.

Everybody has a story to tell! Come listen, learn, and share your family stories. It is a chance to recall a moment from your life, try out a new story with an audience, or just listen to some good family stories. All are welcome! This is an informal group that shares family stories on the third Tuesday of each month from 7-8:30pm. You do not need to register for this event.

Tween Drama Club

The Tween Drama Club is designed for kids in grades 2-6. It will meet every 2nd and 3rd Thursday of each month, February through May 9. Each class will include warm-ups, improvisation activities and theatre games to teach basic drama skills. Attendance is very important since we will also be working on a play, "Storyville," which will be performed on Thursday, May 9 at 6:00 p.m. Registration for the club is required once at the beginning, but not for each class.
