Holiday Concert with Emily Ann Thompson

Celebrate the holidays at the Fishers Library with Emily Ann Thompson. Emily Ann and her husband Kelly will perform traditional songs of Christmas and the winter holiday season from Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales mixed in with jigs, reels, and other traditional fiddle tunes. Throughout the program, they will speak about the different holiday traditions that surround the music in the various Celtic nations. Emily's brilliant fiddling with foot percussion, and her sweet, lilting voice combined with Kelly's driving rhythmic guitar and rich, unabashed vocals, create a diverse and powerful combination. The HEPL Music Series is sponsored by the Friends of Hamilton East Public Library. As always, children and families are welcome.

Silkscreen Printing Workshop

This is a versatile method of screen printing making fine line drawings, hand lettering techniques and half-tone positives possible. Would you like to read to a dog? Bring your favorite book or choose one with the help of a librarian and spend some time reading out loud to a special furry friend! Love on a Leash will have local volunteers here with their registered therapy dogs. Reading to dogs helps kids build self-esteem and confidence as well as valuable reading skills. Sign up for a 15 minute time slot the day of the program; sign-up sheets will be available at the door. This program is for readers 5 and up.

Come and learn to play the ukulele with us at our new club! This club is for beginners, ages 8 and up. We will focus on the following: how to hold the uke, how to tune it, how to read chord charts, and how to play simple songs with one, two, and three chords. There will be five ukuleles available for use at the library during class. Those interested in using a library uke should sign up at the children's reference desk or call youth services one week prior to each class. All others may bring their own ukulele instrument. Registration is required.
