Emily Ann Thompson Jazz Trio (All Ages)

Violinist Emily Ann Thompson’s rich sound, energetic style, and passionate playing has made her an audience favorite. She will be performing Jazz and Gypsy Jazz with her trio of violin, guitar, & bass. The HEPL Music Series is sponsored by the Friends of Hamilton East Public Library.

How-To Festival (All Ages)

Join us for our first ever “How-To Festival” taking place in both Fishers and Noblesville! This will include a variety of free community presentations and workshops for the public starting at 11am and ending at 3pm. There will be unique activities for all ages! Check our calendar online for more!

Chop Chop Club * (Grades 2-5)

Have fun while learning about nutrition and basic cooking skills! This season’s theme is “Cooking Around the World,” where we will learn about different countries and make recipes from each one studied. Electric skillets, microwaves and toaster ovens will be used.




American Girl Club * (Grades K-5)

STEAMPunks: CSI Crime Scene Investigation (Ages 9-13)

A crime has been committed at the library! Police are asking for our help in photographing evidence, but first we have to find it. Join us for this scavenger hunt activity around the Fishers Library. Please bring a camera phone or iPad if possible.

Ukulele Club * (Ages 8 and up)

Learn the play the ukulele! Learn such techniques as: how to hold the uke, how to tune, and how to read chords. Learn to play simple songs with 2 or 3 chords. We will also practice singing and playing at the same time. The library has five ukuleles available to use. Please sign up at the Youth Services desk or call 317-579-0304 to reserve a uke one week in advance.

Teens will have the opportunity to choose future book selections for the group. At the August meeting, free copies of We Were Liars, by E. Lockhart, will be handed out as the first book selection! We’ll begin reading at the meeting and then get back together in September to discuss. Teens will receive the next book selection at the September meeting and discuss in October.

Random Fandom (Grades 6-12)

Celebrate your fandom! Every month we will explore the realms of a different fandom! We will geek out together over Pokemon, Harry Potter, and Percy Jackson, respectively, in an open and accepting evening of fun. Cosplaying is encouraged but not required.

Blackout Poetry (Grades 6-12)

For Banned Books Week, come re-purpose old books to create poetry and art! Blackout poetry is a form of found poetry created by erasing or covering up pieces of text to make poems out of the remaining words.

Maker-in-Residence Artist Reception

Meet our Fall 2019 Maker-in-Residence, Brittany Kugler. A local costume designer and seamstress extraordinaire, Kugler will spend time getting to know the Ignite community of makers through November 30. Meet the artist, enjoy light appetizers and get a preview of the activities Kugler will offer during her 12 week residency.

Hand Sewing for Adults*

Maker-in-Residence Brittany Kugler will teach basic hand sewing skills useful to adults. These skills include sewing on a button and fixing the hem of a sleeve or pant. While you may bring a specific item to get advice for, Ignite will supply the materials needed to learn. Please no late arrivals.

Maker in Residence Brittany Kugler will teach basic hand sewing skills useful to children! This includes some basic hand stitches and will end in a reusable snack pouch! All supplies provided. Ages 9+.

Bring your own project in and join Maker in Residence Brittany Kugler and the Ignite sewing community to sew. Kugler will be in the Ignite Makerspace working on projects, answering questions, and having fun! Ages 13+.

Machine Sewing Basics* (Ages 13+)

Learn the beginning basics of how to use a sewing machine: threading, how to make a bobbin, changing stitches, etc. And you'll make a pillowcase in the process! All supplies provided. Registration is required and your spot will be held for 10 minutes after the start time. After 10 minutes, open spots will be filled with walk-ins. Walk-ins must check in with staff. Ages 13+. We are allowing 2 spots in each class for patrons who bring their own machines. Starting August 1, you may call Ignite Studio at 317-579-0331 or drop by and sign up to attend with your own machine.

So you've learned some sewing machine basics and you want to know the next step? Join Maker in Residence Brittany Kugler to learn how to make clothing by reading a pattern! As a class, you will learn how to read and use a pattern. After the class, Kugler will make the garment and display it in the Makerspace.
