CAST UNVEILED FOR ATI’S ‘ALABAMA STORY’ OPENING OCTOBER 25

CARMEL, INDIANA – Actors Theatre of Indiana has
announced the cast for the upcoming ALABAMA STORY
which opens Friday, October 25 in Carmel at the Studio
Theatre.
Step into the Deep South of the Imagination … An
Indiana native who becomes state librarian of Alabama
finds her life and livelihood at risk when a
controversial children’s book crosses her desk. The
innocent tale of a white rabbit marrying a black rabbit
is angering politicians in the Civil Rights era. But will
Emily Reed give in to demands to have the book burned? Meet history’s forgotten hero of
free speech in the Indiana premiere of a fact-inspired, highly theatrical new American play
brimming with humor, heart and humanity.
Actors Theatre of Indiana is excited to announce our partnership with the Central Indiana
Chapter of the IU Alumni Association as well as Culver Connections for this production. In
this true story, heroine Emily Reed was an Indiana University graduate. All IU Alumni will
receive $10 off their ticket using promo code “IUNight”. After the show, there will be a
Meet and Greet with playwright Kenneth Jones for the IU Alumni.
Emily’s hometown was Culver, IN. Her Dad, Dr. Charles E. Reed was the Chief Physician at
Culver Military Academy and the Town of Culver.
Her brother, Dr. Donald Reed, was a prominent and highly respected Culver physician for
nearly 30 years. Saturday, November 2, is Culver Night at ATI! All Culver Alumni will
receive $5.00 off their ticket. After the show, there will be a Meet and Greet with playwright
Kenneth Jones for Culver Connections.

MEET THE CAST
PAUL TAVIANINI is grateful to be returning to ATI for this
production of Alabama Story, after performing the role of
George Bailey in It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play last
fall. He most recently appeared in the Drury Lane Theatre
(Chicago) production of Agatha Christie’s And Then There
Were None. In Indianapolis, Paul has performed in the
productions of A Raisin in the Sun at IRT, and Bright Star at
the Phoenix Theatre Company. Regional work includes
appearances with the Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Nora
Theatre and Huntington Theatre companies (MA);
Hippodrome Theatre Company (Gainesville, FL); Capital Repertory Theatre (Albany, NY);
Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and A Noise Within (Los Angeles). Paul was also a founding
member of the Theatre Asylum in New York City, producing works by new playwrights and
classic American authors such as Tennessee Williams, Clifford Odets, William Inge and
Elmer Rice. He has appeared on Law & Order, the Discovery Channel series Kidnap and
Rescue, and is a proud member of Actors Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA. Love to

DON FARRELL has 32 plus years working as a professional
singer, dancer, actor, director, choreographer and producer
with credits that include Off-Broadway, International and
National Tours, Las Vegas, Regional productions and guest
soloist concerts with major national symphonies. A proud
member of Actors' Equity Association since 1992, Don’s
credits include 5 world premieres and over 90 different
regional productions. As an accomplished Director and
Choreographer, Don has over 30 different production
credits including such reputable theatres as The Frederick
Loewe Theatre, Springer Opera House, Pennsylvania Centre
Stage, Florida Studio Theatre, Georgia Ensemble Theatre,
Birmingham Theatre and Westchester Broadway Theatre
among others. On the concert stage Don has worked with the late Maestro Erich Kunzel,
Keith Lockhart, Jack Everly, Alfred Savia, Crafton Beck, Adrian Gnam, John Morris Russell,
Robert Moody and Janna Hymes. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College-
Conservatory of Music (BFA Music Theatre, ‘91) Don is a Co-Founder and the Artistic
Director of Actors Theatre of Indiana. He currently resides in Westfield, IN and is a proud
father of his talented daughter, Elizabeth.
CYNTHIA COLLINS - A proud member of Actors Equity
Association since 1991, her Off-Broadway credits include: Fifty
Million Frenchmen, Face The Music, Jubilee, That's The Ticket
with Tony Award winner George S. Irving (Musicals Tonight
Series); Valentino,The Musical at the Judith Anderson Theatre;
Lone Star Cafe at The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre and Gigi
at Equity Library Theatre directed by Gerard Alessandrini,
creator of the famed Forbidden Broadway. Cindy has toured
Nationally in Singin' In The Rain and internationally in My Fair
Lady as well as multiple Cruise Line appearances. She has
worked Regional, Summer Stock, Dinner Theatre contracts all
across the country.. Her television/film credits include: Law &
Order, Law & Order SVU, Ed, Sex And The City, OZ, Die Hard III,
Sabrina, Maid in Manhatten, The Thomas Crown Affair, When I Grow Up, Hide & Seek,
Zoolander, Shaft, Coyote Ugly, Shaft… She has had the pleasure of working with such artists
as Ben Vereen, Sandy Duncan, Claude Aikins, Comden & Green, Cy Coleman, Avery
Schrieber, Joel Grey, Cyndi Lauper, Fred Waring and his famous Pennsylvanians, Chita
Rivera, Sutton Foster, Diane Rehm (NPR‘s The Diane Rehm Show). Her latest film work was
an Independent piece entitled FUBAR, based on a Kurt Vonnegut Short story. As Co-
Founder and Associate Artistic Director of Actors Theatre of Indiana, she was last seen on
the ATI stage in Forbidden Broadway. A native of Livingston, N.J. and longtime resident of
New York City, Cindy currently resides in Carmel with her partner Judy Fitzgerald.
CAMERON STUART BASS is a guest artist from Fabulous
Las Vegas. He has received his Bachelors of Arts degree in
Stage and Screen Acting from the University of Nevada —
Las Vegas in May of this year. His recent credits include
William Henry Brown in the African Company Presents
Richard the Third, Judge Hathorne and Fight Captain in The
Crucible, and Lyons (understudy) and the Fight Captain in
Fences for the Nevada Conservatory Theatre.
MAEGHAN LOONEY is delighted to return to the stages
of her home state for the first time in a nearly a
decade. A Roanoke native and graduate of the Ball State
University, Maeghan is a Chicago based actress making
her ATI debut. Recent credits include two world
premiere productions; romantic World War II drama
Bomber’s Moon (Katrin) and suspenseful folk musical My
Name is Annie King (Hannah). Additional credits: Bonnie
and Clyde (Blanche Barrow); Promethean Women
(Athena); Boeing Boeing (Gloria); The Importance of
Being Earnest (Gwendolen Fairfax); The House of Mirth
(Bertha Dorset); and Jane Austen’s Emma (Augusta

SAMUEL L. WICK is an Oregon actor headquartered in
New York City. His previous credits include - Regional:
Maecenas in Antony and Cleopatra (Oregon Shakespeare
Festival); Sailor/Pirate/Ens. and Thaliard/Fisherman/Boult
in Pericles (Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Folger Theatre,
Guthrie Theater); Bottom in A Midsummer Night's
Dream, Antigonus/Gentleman in The Winter's Tale, Player
in Inferno, Tranio in The Taming of the Shrew,
Clarence/Catesby in Richard III (Island Shakespeare
Festival). His training includes a BFA in Theatre Arts from
Southern Oregon University.
MEET THE DIRECTOR
JANE UNGER is the founding Artistic Director of Profile
Theatre Project, Portland, Oregon whose mission
celebrates the playwright by presenting a full season of
plays by a single writer. In fifteen years helming Profile she
produced and directed work by Arthur Kopit, Tennessee
Williams, Constance Congdon, Arthur Miller, Harold Pinter,
Edward Albee, Romulus Linney, Terrence McNally, Lanford
Wilson, Wendy Wasserstein, Neil Simon, John Guare,
Horton Foote, Lee Blessing and Athol Fugard, working
directly with many of these great writers on new play
development. Other directorial work: Triad Stage, The Inge
Festival, Great Plains Theatre Conference, Creede
Repertory Theatre, Idaho Theatre for Youth, Storefront
Theatre, Miracle Theatre, CoHo Productions, JAW, Portland
Center Stage, New Rose Theatre, and Artists Rep where she
directed the world premiere of Yussef El Guindi’s The Talented Ones; recently for Profile,
Lisa Kron’s 2.5 Minute Ride; adapted and directed Carver Country for Portland’s Literary
Arts and has worked as a consultant with Book-It Rep on The Financial Lives of the Poets
and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. Jane is currently working with Book-It cofounder
Myra Platt on the stage adaptation of Brian Doyle’s Mink River.
