City of Fishers celebrates community volunteers at fourth-annual City of Service Award

The City of Fishers hosted its fourth annual City of Service Awards last night to recognize the dedicated volunteers who have donated their time and talent to the Fishers community.

Last night’s award winners included:
• Fishers Police Department Volunteer of the Year: Kent Billingsley
• Fishers Fire Department Volunteer of the Year: Jim Chrena
• Fishers Department of Public Works Volunteer of the Year: Northview Church
• Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation Volunteer of the Year: Jill Schwarz
• Hamilton Southeastern Schools Teacher of the Year: Maria Kussy, teacher at Brooks School Elementary
• Fishers Non-Profit Volunteer of the Year: Tom Rich, president of Fishers Arts Council
2019 volunteerism highlights include:
• Community volunteers donated more than 2,790 hours to Fishers Parks & Recreation in 2019.
• In 2019, the cash value of Fishers Parks & Recreation volunteer hours was $70,970.55 on a national scale.
• In 2019, Fishers Fire Corps donated nearly 965 volunteer hours to the Fishers Fire Department.
• Fishers Fire Department saw a 20% increase in volunteer hours from 2018 to 2019.
• Volunteers donated more than 1,150 hours to the 2019 Spark!Fishers celebration.
