POOL BUSINESS: IS IT ESSENTIAL AT THIS TIME?

Indianapolis, IN, April 1, 2020 — Per the Governor’s recent order mandating only essential businesses continue to operate, there are still many businesses relying on the vagueness of some of the language to continue to perform business. At the time of the order, Pools of Fun conferred with State representatives, as well as the Governor’s Office to seek clarity on how this impacted our locally-owned family business.

Tim Colón, President, Pools of Fun stated, “We were advised that though there was vagueness in the language, we really needed to ask ourselves if our services could wait. With careful consideration of the health and safety of our customers, team members, and vendor partners, we made the right decision to postpone any face-time business until further guidance from the Governor’s Office. Many of our competitors have chosen to remain doing business, relying on the vague language of the order.”

Continuing to listen to the daily updates from our Governor, as well as updates from President Trump, it is clear the stay-at-home order is in the best interest of our community. As we know little about lifespan of the virus on various materials, it is with the utmost importance that only those business essential to human life and well-being remain offering services to our community.

At this time, face-to-face contact and retail stores are suspended until April 6, 2020 per the Governor’s current order. We are still using remote technology to plan new pool installs, schedule openings and service, and accept online orders for chemicals to be available when normal operations resume. We still have our full team receiving compensation to ensure we can deliver the services and support our customers expect when full-time operations resume.

“At the core of our values is people. We make every decision with careful consideration of the impact to people – internally and externally. We will continue to seek guidance from our State leaders and hope others will give close consideration to what their decisions can mean in this time of crisis,” said Colón.
