The Carmel Education Foundation is excited to announce Ghosts and Goblins GO! which will take place October 23, 2020 through November 8, 2020. In light of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Foundation has pivoted our annual 5K/2K race to a format where participants can GO do whatever they enjoy as an individual, family, or group, to show their support for our Carmel Clay Schools super heroes - teachers, counselors, specialists, support staff, custodians, nurses, food service teams, bus drivers, tech gurus, school resource officers, and administrators. These heroes are working tirelessly to make our learning environments engaging and safe, no matter where they may be.

Ghosts and Goblins GO! participants can GO for a run, GO ride a bike, GO skateboarding, GO dance, GO play a game, GO do whatever they enjoy…the list is endless. Part of the experience will center around past race traditions including showcasing individual and group costumes. New features will include a scavenger hunt for participants to GO around town to find photo stations at featured sponsor’s places of business.

As the non-profit funding partner of Carmel Clay Schools, the Carmel Education Foundation raises funds which are returned to the school community in the form of Great Idea! grants supporting innovation and student engagement in classrooms. This year, we are especially attuned to the evolving needs our teachers and schools have to teach and support our students in COVID-19 friendly environments. Our grants will help fulfill those needs and will also support district wide initiatives. Additionally, CEF funds help provide over 100 scholarships to Carmel High School seniors.

Melissa Volz-Smith, CEF President, shares “Ghosts and Goblins GO! is a fantastic opportunity for our students, parents, and staff to GO do something active and fun as a break from our daily routines. We hope that this format provides a way for people from every school to participate and that, as a community, we can show our school leaders how much we appreciate what they are doing for our kids. “

CEF is seeking community sponsors to be part of the scavenger hunt. Please visit https://www.ccs.k12.in.us/foundation/ghosts-Goblins to learn about sponsor packages or contact Jennifer Penix, Executive Director, at jpenix1@ccs.k12.in.us.

Registration for Ghosts and Goblins GO! (#GGGO) will begin in early September and will be $10 for individuals (any age), and $40 for a family/group up to six people. Special pricing will be available for sport teams and community groups. Participants will receive virtual “bibs”, access to special #GGGO events and participation rewards. Commemorative shirts will be available for purchase.
